More than two years ago, TLG Commerce and Mediterranean Consulting signed a partnership agreement that has created synergies between the two companies.
Mediterranean Consulting is a highly experienced consulting firm specializing in strategy, technology, organization and quality. Founded more than 15 years ago, it has a development division that handles the technical design and programming of solutions. Its standout solution is PIMWAVE, a PIM built on real-world experience analyzing, developing, implementing and maintaining PIM solutions to meet specific needs in specialized, often unique, sectors for specific clients.
Clients have benefited from centralizing product information through the PIM (Product Information Management) application, connecting their company ERP with LogiCommerce.
This time we interview Francesc Xavier Berjano, director of Mediterranean Consulting, who tells us more about their product, the PIM, and their relationship with TLG Commerce.
To start and set the scene, Francesc Xavier Berjano, let’s talk about your solution: what does PIM stand for and what is it?
PIM (Product Information Management) is the type of application that centralizes product information. The PIM solution acts as the link between the ERP and other solutions such as the POS and the eCommerce platform. On one hand, it gathers structured information — descriptions, attributes, features and categorizations — from the ERP. On the other, it gathers unstructured information such as images and related documents, which often come from different sources.
What advantages and benefits does the PIM solution offer TLG Commerce clients?
PIMWAVE is the PIM solution developed by Mediterranean Consulting. It’s highly flexible and adaptable, because we know every company needs a PIM tailored to the specific needs of its day-to-day operations. The PIM solution works independently and acts as the link and distributor between the ERP and LogiCommerce.
The partnership with TLG Commerce has been active for more than two years. How would you rate it so far?
Very positive. So far we’ve worked together with several clients and the results have been very positive, both for us and for the clients. Working with TLG Commerce adds value to the client’s eCommerce. In fact, we intend to strengthen our relationship with TLG Commerce, since the synergies between two companies with complementary solutions give clients an integrated solution that’s unique on the market.
On that note… what benefits does this partnership bring to clients?
Clients get many benefits. To start with, we offer clients who already use the TLG Commerce solution (LogiCommerce) our PIMWAVE solution so they can centralize product information with their ERP. Conversely, we offer LogiCommerce to clients who already have our PIM solution and want to create their online store. What’s more, this partnership means the PIM and LogiCommerce integrate seamlessly, making eCommerce very easy to integrate and manage.
One of the clients that has benefited from this partnership is the LACOSTE brand. The partnership gave Lacoste a centralized environment with all product information, as well as extensive, automatically generated information on each model. Another recent case is the eCommerce portal puntronic.com, featuring thousands of electronics products (TV, audio, home appliances, etc.), which has been a great success.
Do you specialize in any particular sector?
Every sector is a good fit for working with the PIM and LogiCommerce. Clients’ results have always been very positive, whatever their sector.
Besides the PIM, what other services do you offer?
We’re a consulting firm with a software “factory.” In our consulting division we develop improvements and apply change management, relying heavily on new technologies, enabling internal transformation and process improvement in pursuit of lasting efficiency and quality. It’s a planned pursuit of change that involves the whole organization (departments and people) and supports the achievement of its strategy and business goals.
Afterward, we can turn improvements that require an ad hoc solution into a transactional application. In our Software Factory we handle the technical design and programming of custom solutions. Our professionals have proven experience designing horizontal and vertical management solutions.
What’s more, our relationships with clients are based on collaboration and commitment to results.
We work in a constantly changing industry. Are you working on new solutions for the future? Where do you think it’s heading?
At our company we devote significant resources to R&D so that we truly have enough time to innovate. I strongly agree with the definition Dr. Tapan Munroe gives in his book “Silicon Valley: The Ecology of Innovation”, where he states that “the starting point for innovation is the generation of creative ideas. But innovation is the process of turning those ideas into something useful that the customer also perceives as a benefit.”
With that in mind, we’re working on several R&D lines, always aimed at meeting a real, identified need. I’d also stress that the strategic key to good results will increasingly lie in alliances like the one between TLG Commerce and Mediterranean Consulting, to give clients a complete solution.
We thank Francesc Xavier Berjano, director of Mediterranean Consulting, for taking the time to tell us more about their product, PIMWAVE, and their relationship with TLG Commerce.
