Website migration and replatforming with your SEO protected
Switching eCommerce platforms, redesigning your website, merging domains or moving to a new URL structure are decisions that can greatly improve your business. They can also sink your organic traffic if done without a plan. SEO migration is the process that ensures search engines and AI assistants understand the change: which URL replaces which, what content is kept and how accumulated authority is transferred. At TRILOGI we define it from the start of the project, implement it alongside the technical team and monitor the results after launch.

The challenge
Risks of a migration without an SEO plan
- 01
Disappearing URLs
Pages with traffic and links that start returning 404 errors and suddenly lose their rankings.
- 02
Faulty redirects
Chains, loops or redirects to the homepage that confuse Google and dilute authority.
- 03
Lost content
Copy, metadata or structured data that don’t carry over to the new site and weaken the pages.
- 04
Problems detected too late
Without monitoring, traffic drops are discovered weeks later, when they’ve already hit sales.
Change your website without losing what took you years to earn.
What we do
What we do in your SEO migration
We support the project before, during and after launch.
Complete URL inventory
We crawl your current site and cross-reference data from Search Console, analytics and backlinks. We identify the URLs that drive traffic, sales or authority.
301 redirect map
We map each old URL to its most relevant equivalent on the new site. We use AI to speed up matching and manually review critical pages.
Content and metadata parity
We verify that titles, descriptions, headings, copy and structured data are kept or improved. Nothing important gets left behind.
SEO requirements for development
We hand the technical team the specs: URL structure, canonicals, hreflang, pagination, sitemap and robots. SEO is part of the project from the start.
Staging validation
We crawl the staging environment before launch and test the redirects. We fix errors while they don’t yet cost traffic.
Post-launch monitoring
We track indexing, errors, rankings and organic traffic in the following weeks. We react quickly to any deviation.

Frequently asked questions
What we’re often asked.
What is an SEO migration?
It’s the set of tasks that protect organic rankings when a website changes significantly: new platform, redesign, or a change of domain, URL structure or languages. It includes inventorying current URLs, defining 301 redirects, preserving important content and metadata and monitoring results after launch.
Do you lose traffic when migrating a website?
There may be temporary fluctuations while search engines process the change, even in well-executed migrations. What a good SEO migration prevents are sharp, lasting losses caused by redirect errors or lost content. We can’t guarantee rankings, but we can guarantee a rigorous process that minimizes risk.
When should you start planning the SEO migration?
Ideally from project kickoff, before the new structure and design are defined. That way SEO requirements are built into development and no work needs redoing at the end. If the project is already underway, we can still step in, but it’s best to do so well ahead of the launch date.
What are 301 redirects and why do they matter?
A 301 redirect tells browsers and search engines that a URL has permanently moved to another. It ensures users reach the right page and that the authority built up by the old URL transfers to the new one. Redirects should point to the most relevant equivalent page, not the homepage.
Do you handle the SEO migration if another company does the development?
Yes. We can act as SEO lead within a project developed by another vendor or your in-house team. We deliver specs, the redirect map and checklists, validate in staging and monitor after launch, coordinating with whoever implements the technical changes.
