Black Friday 2020: is your ecommerce store ready?

With the COVID-19 crisis and the growth of eCommerce, this year’s Black Friday is expected to be one of the strongest for sales in recent years.

Are you already working on Black Friday? If the answer is NO, don’t wait any longer! eCommerce stores that don’t start working now to be ready by November won’t hit their targets. Many eCommerce businesses count on Black Friday to make a killing, but reality is harsh if they aren’t prepared. Simply launching offers isn’t enough; you need to plan it well. Shall we help?

4 tips for succeeding this Black Friday

Let’s go! Time to get to work. First of all, follow these tips if you want to jump on the Black Friday train this year:

  • Start investing in online advertising now.

There are fewer advertisers bidding right now, so it’s a good time to attract cheaper traffic to your eCommerce store, which you can then re-engage with retargeting campaigns during Black Friday.

  • Improve the mobile version of your eCommerce store to sell more.

This year, browsing on mobile devices has increased by more than 50% compared with the previous year. Work out which tweaks, improvements and features you can implement in the ‘mobile’ version of your eCommerce store to maximize results.

  • From Black Friday… to Black Week… to Black Month

The official Black Friday date is Friday, November 27, but this year more than ever promotions will start early and the first movers will win. If you wait until the 27th to run promotions, your competitors will already have taken your customers.

  • Get your eCommerce store ready to improve conversion

Look for tools that can help you improve your eCommerce conversion rate. At Trilogi, we recommend the following tools:

There are many on the market; find the solution that best fits your online business and don’t hesitate to implement it in your eCommerce store.

What types of promotions can you run this Black Friday?

Let’s keep going! Now it’s time to decide what kind of promotions you can run in your online store during Black Friday. Here are a few ideas!

The most common types of Black Friday promotions:

Product promotion. This is the most common. It means applying a direct discount to a selection of products for a set period of time. It’s important for the price to appear crossed out and for this information to be sent correctly through the feed, so the crossed-out price shows in Facebook ADS campaigns or the “Price drop” message appears in Google ADS Display or Shopping campaigns.

Order promotion. It’s always better for the discount to be applied directly, but we can also use discount codes. In this case you can apply a discount for a minimum purchase of X€, for buying products from a certain category or for buying more than X items. The options are endless.

Free shipping promotion. Users pay more and more attention to shipping costs. During a period like Black Friday, when purchases are highly impulsive, a free shipping promotion can be a good option. Set a period with no shipping costs and you’ll see sales go up.

Other types of promotions. There are many other types of promotions too, such as including a free product with the order, classic 2-for-1 deals or giving an aggressive discount voucher for a second purchase.

Lead capture through Private Sales. Bringing Black Friday forward with private sales has become very common in recent years. It means starting Black Friday a week early and, in exchange for the user’s email, giving them a discount code so they can enjoy Black Friday before anyone else.

Are you ready? Black Friday starts today!
