The online channel can maintain and expand the pharmacy market

On 28 November TLG Commerce brought together all the players in the pharmaceutical sector at an event on eCommerce and Pharma. In the debate, participants concluded that betting on sales through online pharmacies will be key to maintaining and expanding the current market.

The event, attended by pharmacies, distributors and laboratories, highlighted the concerns all players share regarding the digital sale of pharmaceutical products.

The event was opened by Alberto Pérez, eCommerce manager at Cofares. He was very clear in his talk, warning his colleagues that if they weren’t the ones selling online, the industry would end up selling its products through mass retail and pharmacies would become “a side door to health centers”.

Llorenç Palomas, sales director at TLG Commerce, encouraged attendees to take the leap. He presented a study on online sales best practices after analyzing the 10 Spanish online pharmacies with the most traffic in Spain. Among other conclusions, the eCommerce expert stated that the correlation between an online store’s visibility on Google and its number of product references is direct: the more references, the more visibility. The event ended with a debate between Alberto Pérez, eCommerce manager at Cofares; Valero Pallas, general manager at Farmàcies Ecoceutics; Alfonso Fuertes, founder of Farmaconfianza.com; José Luis Belvis, KAM & CCSD at Nestlé Health Science; and Verónica Díaz Álvarez, Country Digital Manager at Nestlé Health Science, who joined the panel.

All participants, moderated by Pau Lepage, Digital Marketing Manager at TLG Commerce, agreed that the sector’s digital transformation is a must to maintain and expand its current market. It also makes it possible to serve a new consumer who still values the physical pharmacy but also wants the benefits of the online pharmacy.
