One of the 2 dates many of us undoubtedly look forward to has arrived: the summer sales, when we can buy what we’ve been wanting and save a few euros.
Although some stores were already running Mid Season Sales ahead of the sales season, now, with summer bonus paychecks about to land, is when businesses need to work on offering the most attractive deals on the market.
If you want to know the key elements for an eCommerce this sales season, read on.
Here are the 7 points every eCommerce should keep in mind during the sales.
1.- Create a deals page.
It may sound obvious, but people will clearly be looking for reduced prices. Instead of making them browse your whole website and get lost, help them quickly find the products you have on sale. Create a landing page with all the deals in your eCommerce. Think of it as a shop window for your online store, designed to catch potential customers’ attention and spark interest in your products.
2.- Show your deals on your eCommerce homepage.
Words like Outlet, Deals, Sale and any other synonym signaling lower prices should be visible to people visiting your site. It’s no coincidence that for years we’ve seen SALE signs prominently displayed in stores, with large posters and bright colors. eCommerce stores also need to announce that they offer products at lower prices and invite people to explore them.
Whether through a banner or a link to the page with all our promoted products (if we follow point number 1 of this post), we’ll make it easy for everyone who visits our eCommerce to find them.
3.- Harness the power of Remarketing.
This is one of the best times to run a Dynamic Remarketing campaign, as people visit several sites looking for the best price. If we use the tools available to “follow” those who have already visited our website and remind them that we have the product they’re looking for, we’re sure to recover some of those potential sales.
If you don’t know how Dynamic Remarketing works, check out one of our previous posts.
4.- Enable mobile shopping in your eCommerce.
Do people really buy from eCommerce stores on their phones? If you’re still unsure about having a mobile version of your online store, you probably haven’t seen the latest figures on m-commerce growth. Mobile sales volumes are rising month after month, and that doesn’t look set to change anytime soon. The data also shows that mobile purchases are more impulsive than desktop ones. Add the fact that summer sales (like any discount season) drive far more impulse buying, and combining sales + mobile is a formula that will boost revenue.
This is one of those times to pamper the people who are loyal to your business. Whether you give them a discount code or tell them about a promotion valid during the sales season, let them know what you’ll be doing during these days of deals. Make them feel special and give them something different from other visitors to your online store. Sales season is also a great time to build customer loyalty.
I don’t just mean announcing that you’re joining the sales season and offering products at good prices, since I assume that was already part of your plan. I mean Facebook’s advertising platforms, Facebook Ads, whose campaign targeting options are proving to deliver good results for any eCommerce. And let’s not forget Twitter Ads as another social media option for promoting our eCommerce.
7.- Create offers that stand out from the rest.
Don’t be just another store: create offers that differ from what other stores have. Look at what your competitors are doing and find a way to add something extra to your product. It could be a discount coupon for the next purchase, a complementary product or the option to send it as a personalized gift. You can spark customers’ interest and get them to buy from your eShop a product sold in hundreds of stores, simply because you’re different from the rest.
