eShow unveils the latest eCommerce trends

The eShow Madrid trade fair, which ended on September 26, brought a host of news from the eCommerce sector in Spain. At a time as difficult as this, eCommerce is one of the few sectors still posting growth (more than 20% in the first half of the year), reaching 12 billion euros in revenue in 2012.

More than 200,000 professionals currently work in this young industry, a figure that experts say could reach 500,000 by 2017. In Spain alone, a 25% increase is forecast for 2013, reaching 15 billion euros in total revenue.

It’s no surprise, then, that eCommerce takes center stage at fairs like eShow, where the industry’s top professionals gather in just a few square meters and present the trends that will shape the future of online retail. Over these days, there were debates and talks on topics as diverse as logistics, payment methods, traffic acquisition (SEO-SEM), affiliate marketing, web analytics, cloud computing, search engines, email marketing, mobile apps…

Against this backdrop of innovation, SEUR hosted its eForum, where several panels discussed logistics topics related to eCommerce. One of the most notable featured Llorenç Palomas, Sales and Marketing Manager at Trilogi, and Agustín Velasco, manager of Rosvel Parafarmacia, who, moderated by Marc Bayo, SEUR’s Corporate Head of Integration Solutions, illustrated how a physical store, in this case Rosvel, embarks on the journey to selling online.

This journey begins by choosing the partners who will make it possible. In Rosvel’s case, as Agustín Velasco acknowledges, “the agility and trust Trilogi gave us were key to choosing them as partners; besides, when you choose a technology partner you have to make sure it doesn’t limit you in time or resources”.

Rosvel’s online sales, as Agustín confirmed, already account for 33% of its business, a significant figure reached just two years after going online. Achieving this growth also requires a good relationship between the logistics operator and the technology provider, as Marc Bayo stated: “They must be aligned with the client to guarantee success.”
