In other words, 7 out of 10 internet users browse on their phones. In fact, Spain leads Europe in smartphone use, ahead of Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Italy. According to a study by the consulting firm Comscore, almost 4 million people who browse the internet on their phones also do so on a tablet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">GROWTH OF SOCIAL MEDIA<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10.5pt; text-align: justify; line-height: 14.25pt; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">Eight out of ten users are on Twitter, Facebook or Google+. Part of this information is exchanged as URLs, and if they are too long they are impractical. <o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><strong>Why do we need to shorten URLs? <\/strong>To send them via Twitter (messages have a character limit), on mobile (to avoid long, annoying addresses), by email, or simply to include them in a digital r\u00e9sum\u00e9 (if we don\u2019t want to use hyperlinks).<o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10.5pt; text-align: justify; line-height: 14.25pt; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">There are several free apps for shortening URLs. Here are two:<o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:15.6pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">Goo.gl<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">: this is Google URL Shortener. Besides trimming the URL, it lets you track the clicks the shortened address receives, whether on social media, in emails or elsewhere online.
